The history of the town of Valkenswaard is as long as it is rich. For example, it was the first Dutch town to be liberated by the English in 1944. Its falconry and cigar industries used to be of international renown.

Immerse yourself completely in nature on the two kilometres of the Beaver Path in Hamont-Achel. Seasoned boys and girls go barefoot for the full experience, but it is of course no problem if you want to keep your shoes on.

Every Thursday, the weekly market takes place on Valkenswaard's Market Square. It is the liveliest and best weekly market in Brabant, also popular with Belgian visitors. In summer, there is often live music. After shopping, you can enjoy one of the many surrounding terraces.

Singing event. De Kempengalm organizes the Summer Concert with guest choirs Zing Mares and Quintessens. Admission is free.

Every year, on the second weekend of September, the “Stichting Bloemencorso Valkenswaard” (Foundation Flower parade Valkenswaard) organizes the annual Flower Parade.

The Kunstenfestival Borkel en Schaft will take place from Thursday 5 to Sunday 8 October 2023. This new event, which is being held for the first time, is the result of a collaboration between a group of artists and residents.
