Nature gateways & area entrances are excellent places to start and end your stay on De Groote Heide and more than a parking lot and route signpost. Much more, in fact. They are area hotspots that offer a variety of interesting and convenient attractions. Every gateway/entrance has its own charm, style and possibilities, and each in their own right is well worth a visit.
Nature gateways and area entrances are ideal locations to start a cycling or hiking trip through the overwhelming nature of De Groote Heide. There is always an hospitality establishment there, as well as ample parking and information about the area and its nature and routes. Cycling and hiking routes either start, end or pass through these places.
A number of locations in North Brabant have been designated as official nature gateways. The Brabant Nature Gateways network is an initiative of the provincial government of North Brabant. Other area entrances are often just as attractive and convenient as these nature gateways, but are not officially part of the province's network. To avoid any confusion we simply call them area entrances!
