After the abolition of the medieval ban law by Napoleon, a few enterprising Teuten van Hamont built a windmill a few hundred metres outside the town walls of Hamont. AN XII of 1804 is written on the windmill in large white letters.

It is used to flood the Bossche Broek at high tide.

Rents out electric and classic bicycles, making it an excellent place to start exploring De Groote Heide. Bicycles for children and a tandem are also available. Please note that an electric bicycle requires at least two days prior reservation.

Budel-Dorplein is one of the smaller centres of the municipality of Cranendonck. It is a unique historic village that bears the title of “protected rural area” since 2011. It is well worth a visit!

The Genneper Watermill (also called Gennepermolen) is a beautiful watermill in Genneper Park, which was captured by none other than Vincent van Gogh in one of his works.

The Dommel, the Drongelens Canal and the Stadssingel (city canal) converge under the Vughterbrug.

It is the starting point for a wonderful walking or cycling trip through the Leenderbos, the Groote Heide or the Beverbeekse Heide. From here, you can also easily reach the charming town of Hamont-Achel.

In the 19th century, the Schimmelse or Woenselse Watermolen was the largest watermill in the area. Corn was ground, oil was pressed, and wool processed in this mill.

This café is not to be missed! Why? Because the people working the bar are always entertaining and enthusiastic, the beer list is extensive, and the music is excellent (and regularly live).

Smugglers often used streams to smuggle goods across the border.

The De Plaetse sheepfold is located next to the Strabrechtse Heide. A flock of over 350 Kempen heath sheep regularly resides here to graze Brabants heathlands.
